The Engagement Season is Coming!!! ❤💍❤

In just the matter of a few weeks, our blog will be flowing with spring engagement sessions and we cannot wait! We’re so excited!

Here at Capture Thirteen, we love engagement sessions because they give us an opportunity to spend time with our couples and get to know them before the wedding day and it’s an opportunity for them to get to know us as well. Connecting with our couples and building relationships with them along the way are really important to us. Our three main meeting points with our couples before the wedding are the consult, the engagement session, and our final wedding timeline meeting, many times our brides attend most of these meetings, alone or with their mother or their wedding coordinator. So the engagement session provides a time in which we can get to know both our bride and groom! We love chatting about all things weddings, and we also love finding out that our couples love tacos as much as we do or sharing our favorite shows to binge watch!

If you’re on the fence about doing an engagement session, we’ve got all the reasons why you should do it! Well we’ve narrowed it down to our top five reasons you should do an engagement session! 😉

1.) Get Comfortable! The number one reason we love engagement sessions… it allows our couples to get comfortable in front of the camera together! For most of our couples, the engagement session is their first photo session together and that can bring a lot of nerves, even for someone who loves being in front of the camera! The engagement session will give you time to get comfortable posing in front of the camera together and will help you be more relaxed for pictures on the wedding day. By the time your wedding day rolls around, you’ll be pros in front of the camera! 😉

2.) We Get to Know You! Getting to know our couples and connecting with them is one of our favorite things about being a wedding photographer. The Engagement Session gives not only a time for us to get to know our couples better but it allows you guys to get to know us! We’re learning what poses or style of posing works best for you, what makes you laugh and how to get those genuine smiles and reactions for the camera! At the same time, we’re also learning what you don’t like… what poses seem stiff or unnatural for the two of you, or if you don’t like being photographed from certain angles. Our goal is for you to leave the engagement session feeling like you’ve been hanging out with friends, who just so happen to have cameras! 😀 We’ll be spending lots of time together on the wedding day so part of doing the engagement session is helping us all to feel comfortable and get rid of any awkwardness so that everything seems natural on the wedding day!

3.) Savor the Moment! Our third reason is a little more sentimental… you know the saying time flies when your having fun?! Well, it’s true for the engagement season as well! Whether your engagement season is 3 months or 1 year, that sweet time will fly by and it will be your wedding day before you know it! We can’t think of a better excuse than your engagement session to take some time away from your wedding planning and to do lists and just go be in the moment together and bonus… have it documented! Plus you’ll love looking back on this moment and will be so thankful you took the time to do it years down the road.

4.) Pretty Pictures! Pretty Pictures… really that’s it! The engagement session is the perfect opportunity to get some pretty pictures of just the two of you! Pictures to fill your future home, or to use for save the dates or even display at your wedding! Use this session as an opportunity to take pictures in one of your favorite spots… do you love the mountains or hanging out downtown, hiking, being near the water, or do you enjoy eating ice cream together?! Make it personal and make it fun!

5.) Take Some Time Away! The wedding planning process can be overwhelming and stressful! Use your engagement session time to take a day away from it all and spend some purposeful time together. Go pamper yourself, go relax a little and get your nails done, you could go for a trial run with your hair and makeup artist. Since you’ll have your hair and makeup done… come to your session and then go have fun or romantic date night!
