Winter Wedding | R-Ranch in the Mountains, Dahlonega Georgia

The new year has begun… 2019 is here and while we’re looking forward to all that is to come, we’re also looking back at some of our favorite moments from 2018. One of those moments was Kaylin and Daniel’s winter wedding at R-Ranch in the Mountains located in Dahlonega, Georgia. It was the perfect start to our 2018 year! We have to say this wedding made us fall in love with winter weddings!

The lodge at R-Ranch provides a warm and cozy atmosphere with its large stone double sided fireplace. Perfect for snuggling up next to on a winter day! With the floor to ceiling glass windows, you can be indoors and still not miss out on the warmth of the sun on your back, even in the winter! Plus those mountain views, are beautiful no matter what season it is! 😍😍😍

The neutral color palette chosen by our winter bride was perfect for the season and for this military wedding! The bridesmaids wore champagne dresses paired with brown faux fur wraps and carried bouquets of greenery. The bride’s wedding dress was champagne overlayed in beautifully detailed lace paired with a white faux fur wrap and a cathedral length veil. The bride also carried a bouquet full of greenery with a few simple white roses mixed in. (Tip: In the winter trees are bare and grass is dead. Bringing greenery into your winter wedding will help bring a softness, and life to the winter scene and always looks gorgeous in pictures!) With the bridal party they mixed things up a bit and the bride’s cousin Jack served as her man of honor and Daniel’s sisters helped make up his attendants. Daniel’s sisters wore black dresses that matched the bridesmaids champagne dresses and paired with black faux fur wraps and Jack wore a black suit. With the remaining groomsmen in military dress and the groom in military attire as well.

For details, they brought in lots of greenery… a mix of eucalyptus’s accented with white roses and pinecones, faux furs, candles, wood slices, and gold accented vases bring to life the elegant winter scene. All DIY by the bride’s mother!

We almost forgot to mention that our winter wedding came complete with snowy mountains tops! YES!! With snowy mountain tops, some fierce winds and a temperature of 16… real feel 13 degrees, we opted for first look moments in front of the fireplace in the lodge! We did, however, brave the cold and wind and ran outside for a few quick picture moments outside! Warming back up inside and followed by a sweet ceremony in the sun-drenched warmth of the lodge.

Following the ceremony, was a reception filled with winter comfort foods of the south… chicken and dumplings, prime rib, and veggie selections! With an assortment of personal pies, a coffee station and bottled Cokes for dessert. Guests enjoyed the sounds of the Dave Anderson Band and joined the bride and groom on the dance floor for a good time and a good time was had by all! There was so much happiness, joy and friends genuinely having fun we couldn’t resist but join in for a few! Yep, we may have even hit the dance floor! As everyone enjoyed the dance floor we couldn’t help but notice how the sunset hit the dance floor through the windows. So we snuck out for a few brief moments with the bride and groom to catch those golden rays and we’re all so glad we did! As this joy-filled day came to an end the bride and groom were sent on their way under the light of sparklers.

The thing we loved most about this special day was the overwhelming feeling of joy and happiness that hit us the moment we walked in the door, until the minute we got in our cars to leave!
